MISSION STATEMENT

CAN Project (Cornwall Artist Network) was founded in 2005, founding members Jane Atkinson, Ben Ellis and Matthew Pontin continue to build upon previous successful initiatives. CAN Project is a non-profit making organisation based in Cornwall with the aim of establishing an artist network committed to delivering high quality art commissions and workshops within the community. CAN Project aims to facilitate the opportunity to work with contemporary practitioners and to collaborate across the arts. The purpose of the network is that it will grow to consist of a selection of high quality artists.

Membership will allow for artists that have worked on a CAN Project commission, workshop, project to be absorbed as new members. CAN Project aims to provide a solid foundation for initiating innovative high quality art projects.

GROUP AIMS

* To increase networking and support the development of contemporary artists,
* To remain committed to delivering high quality art commissions and workshops within the community,
* To develop sustainable models for funding art projects,
* To exhibit artwork that engages with audiences that might not visit gallery spaces.

CAN Project intends to promote the work created to a local and national audience. The aim is to display new work outside of the traditional formal gallery space, therefore bringing the art to the attention of the general public.
