AUDIENCE IN THE COMMUNITY (BA Photography Level 1 Project, 2008)

Every geographical space is used by different and sometimes multiple communities, who experience the landscape through equally different and varied activities. Occasionally we recognise that we understand and share very little contact with the people who we pass by regularly and learn little about one another’s experience of the same space. This project saw photographic artists Jon Blyth, Matthew Pontin and Tim Mills work with first year BA Photography students on a project exploring the community around the Penryn and Falmouth town and coastal areas, making images about these spaces. The final works created were then returned into the community as a series of exhibitions at; Peapods Cafe, Greenbank Hotel, JAM Records, The Pier Cafe, The ‘Front Bar, Falmouth Watersports Centre and Gyllyngvase Beach Cafe.

One group during the project had the opportunity to exhibit on-board the King Harry Ferry during Easter 2008. The group selected to show on-board the ferry had worked in Falmouth making distinct and subtle images of areas that may usually be overlooked. Students involved were: ERLENDUR MAGNUSSON, BENJAMIN MALE, LIZ BEST, MATTHEW BILLINGSLEY, ANDREW GUEST, GUY JOYNSON, HOLLIDAY KEDIK, CHRISTOPHE SUANT, CAMERON SWEENY & EMILY WICKER - see the work they produced by selecting any of the images below:
